We love sharing information – sometimes it’s small tidbits and other times its big juicy chunks of info, and every now and again it might be something as simple as a meme to make your smile. We hope you enjoy our blog – which is mostly dog focused but can occasionally be distracted (Travel Tuesday is a lovely distraction but also a great way to get new holiday ideas).

Five fun things to do
  1. Enjoy the spectacular road trip to Marysville! As one of the most scenic road trips in Victoria, enjoy travelling through the rolling hillsides of the Yarra Valley Wine region before journeying through the winding Black Spur Mountain Ranges full of dense ferns and stunning forests.
  2. Visit Stevenson Falls, one of Victoria’s highest waterfalls at 84metres. Located 3km away from the main township, accessible on a sealed road, a gentle 700 metre walk takes you to a fantastic view of the waterfall (see picture below).
  3. Indulge in a luxurious self-care date at the White Lotus Day Spa & Retreat. Set among native forest in a private sanctuary, kick back and relax in this boutique spa and enjoy relaxation massage, facials, and more. There is also accommodation available on site.
  4. Take the whole family fishing in nearby township of Buxton, at Buxton Trout and Salmon Farm. The friendly staff will help beginners by organising all equipment and cleaning any caught fish for you. There are BBQ and picnic facilities on site so you can cook your catch – it doesn’t get much fresher than that!
  5. Visit Bruno’s Art & Sculpture garden. Although completed destroyed in the Black Saturday bushfires, these magical gardens have since been completed rejuvenated and are full of lovingly crafted clay sculptures that continue to attract and inspire visitors from all around the world.

Foodie Activities
  • Every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, the township holds Marysville Community Market, full of handmade crafts and local produce including honey, preserves, olive-oil, fresh fruits, vegetable and wine.
  • Visit Little River Wines in nearby Taggerty, located opposite Cathedral Range State Park. Surrounded by forests, streams, and mountains, Little River Wines are known for their premium sparkling and table wines. The winery is also home to resident wildlife such as native birds, wombats and echidnas.

Anything else of interest
Marysville suffered greatly during the 2009 Black Saturday Bushfires, amongst Australia’s all time worst natural disasters. Of 400 buildings in the town, only 14 were left standing. Marysville’s recovery since the devastating event is remarkable, and tourism is a key factor in helping the area continue to recover.
