The Dalmatian.
The Dalmatian originates from the region of Dalmatian in Croatia. They were originally bred to run along horse drawn carriages so naturally have extensive amounts of stamina. Their main historical job was to guard their masters horse and carriages while they were unattended.
Due to this the Dalmatian needs a lot of exercise and leadership. They do not do well with no stimulation.
Dalmatians are very social, energetic dogs that love to play with children. Being highly intelligent they are often used in the military and make great watch dogs. Strong leadership and human companionship paired with daily regular exercise will keep this breed happy and thriving. As Dalmatians have a short coat they do not require a huge amount of maintenance. Their coat should be brushed during times of shedding and only need bathing when required due to their low odour.
